Our customers and partners have always asked for better documentation. We took it seriously and now proudly present the new version of our Help & Support Center: http://help.AxCMS.net.

The first thing you see - a lot of news on the homepage. Those who visit help.AxCMS.net regulary see now on one screen the new articles, KB-articles, blog-entries and even the recent twitts (coming soon: latest forum topics). And you can subsribe to the news feeds via RSS.

For newbies there is a new starting page (also available from www.axcms.net via "Documentation"-link): http://help.axcms.net/en_new_to.AxCMS. It visualize the structure of the Help & Support Center.

There is a new guide: Basic Concepts, describing the fundamentals of AxCMS.net. This is recommended reading for everybody starting with AxCMS.net - does not matter if Developer, Administrator or Editor.

We consider search to be a key feature of the Help & Support Center. Search box on the homepage is now big cannot be overseen. Search functionality is improved in many ways:

  • Search results on the top are so called best matches. Best matches are found based on the keywords which are manually attached to help pages. It means, if you see best matches, they are almost certainly what you look for.
  • Advanced search syntax is available. For example you can search with AND/OR/NOT or search in specific fields, like name, headline or content.
  • Search results can be restricted to a particular Audience (Developers, Administrators, Users) or Source (Guides, Products, Articles, FAQ, KB). In the screenshot above if you would restrict the audience to Developers, you will get only 74 results instead of 117 related to template development and if you further restrict the source to KB - only 3 KB-articles about possible problems.
  • In the search results you see a short description for every item found. Sometimes it can answer your question without even going to the page.
  • Left to every search result you see an icon which explains, where the found articles comes from - if it is User Guide, Developer Guide, KB or something else. It is one more hint for you to decide, which of the results found is more relevant.
  • There are 50 results on a page, i.e. you should not need to use paging (and if there are too many results, preferably restrict the result set using filters or change the search term.

Knowledge Base is a new area where we collected a lot of information earlier distributed everywhere in the system. We try to generate a KB-article from every support case and every forum topic. We recommend using KB as a frst remedy in case of some problems with installation and development. KB is structured into usual 3 areas: for Developers, Administrators, Users.

Forum now resides under Help & Support and is available for everyone. Feel free to ask questions there, discuss your ideas and provide suggestion for improvements in AxCMS.net.

All in one - welcome to the new Help & Support Center!
